I’m Alex. I am the author of The Afterwards, a speaker, a coach and I am a survivor of child abuse. I am a wife, a mother and a friend, but I am no longer a daughter, granddaughter, aunt or sister. That box I was given, was never one meant for me.

I have discovered rather reluctantly that family are those I have chosen to surround myself with and in the process, I have learnt that biology does not dictate who I am and who I become.
